January 13th was a normal Friday, I got up, went to work and went into the lunchroom to put my lunch in the fridge and suddenly it hit me, a wave of nausea and I was running into the bathroom about to be sick.
It turns out I came down with a 24 hour stomach bug and was sent home from work sick that day. I felt even sicker when I cam to the realization that there was no way I was going to be able to have lunch with Sell_Dude. I knew that he was becoming impatient with my avoidance tactics and we were at the end of the line.
I thought to myself:
There is no way that after everything I have put this guy through that he is going to believe that I am actually sick, he is going to thick I’m just a big flake.
I really didn’t want to be green on our first date, or throw up on him; I also knew if I cancelled I may not get another chance.
So I made the call, thankfully he understood and lunch became just for coffee; as the thought of eating was not at all appealing to me.
He later told me that he almost told me to forget it when I called to change our plan, but against his own hesitations he agreed to the change of plans.
I got there first, ordered my latte and sat by the window so that I could watch each car as it pulled into the parking lot. I saw this guy walk up to the door carrying a bouquet of flowers and I thought that can’t be him, who brings flowers to a first date?
Low and behold it was him; he was tall, dark and handsome. He was even better looking in person than he was in his pictures.
As I gave him the quick once over, I noted that he had nice broad shoulders, a solid build and was tall… Completely unlike any guy I had dated before, but incredibly appealing to me.
We hugged right away, and he gave me the flowers, they were bright pink stargazer lilies. I don’t remember what it was we talked about that day, but I do remember just staring into his eyes and the way he never looked away from me, he always looked right into my eyes; like there was something there he just had to discover… it was almost too intense.
One hour turned into two, three turned five and many lattes later I realized that I was on the verge of being late to meet my girlfriend for dinner.
That night when I got home, Dad asked, “So how was it?” I replied frankly, “I only know one thing for sure; I’m trouble, big trouble, because he appears to be everything he says he is and more”.
Dad just smiled and said, “Told ya”.

I just finished reading back through your old posts about this and you guys have such a romantic story! I love how your father was so instrumental in all of this and I’m glad you listened to the great advice he gave you.
I think it’s so cool when people have success finding love online. I have several friends that have met their husbands/wives that way. I just love technology.

Thanks Salt, I am so glad you are enjoying the story so far!
You’re right, I can honestly say if it wasn’t for my Dad we wouldn’t be together today. He gave me the confidence and the courage to pursue the love I wanted and deserved.

I really am enjoying your love story. This part “like there was something there he just had to discover… it was almost too intense”gave me shivers…happy shivers remembering the first time my hubby and I met and felt the same thing. Simply beautiful and really captured that unexplainable moment.
