Loving Home: The first signs of Spring

Months ago I shared that I was waiting for spring; the story of planting our first bulbs and a slight oversight on my part that resulted in planting over 30 bulbs in a flower bed filled with nothing but rock and sand.

Although it is still winter here in Ontario (as you can tell from the picture above, taken yesterday morning in our front yard), the bulbs planted in the sandy flowerbed on the left side are starting to sprout up, I can’t believe it!

The flowerbed on the right side that was specially filled with topsoil with the bulbs in mind, currently shows no sign of life.

As soon as these little glimpses of spring caught my eye, I was filled with anticipation and excitement for the change of season.

Seeing this foliage was a promise of things to come. Soon the air will get warmer, the grass will get greener, the days will get longer and the nature around us will be filled with growth and new life.

The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.  ~Bern Williams

Springtime is the land awakening.  The March winds are the morning yawn.  ~ Lewis Grizzard

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow.  ~Proverb

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.  ~Anne Bradstreet

I can’t wait to see the tulips and the daffodils in full bloom as I walk around coatless and sock free.

What’s your favourite part of spring? What are you looking forward to the most?

PS, I can’t wait for Hubby to come home from his business trip to discover that my “Holland style” gardening method worked out perfectly, you see I really planned it that way all along. ;)

My hubby and I took our first “after winter” walk in the warm, spring sunshine the other day…it was amazing! It felt so nice to feel the sunshine on my face again. We tend to stay inside most of the winter, but I LOVE getting fresh air and being adventurous outdoors:)

I love just being outdoors and soaking it all in.

In Southern CA we don’t get major seasonal changes. However I grew up in Indiana where we did and my favorite part was always blue skies! After a long gray winter I cherished the bright blue!
