About
Confessions of a Loving Wife is a blog about love, marriage and the adventures of domestic life.
This blog is about love; the act of love, things I love, the feeling of love, the art of loving.
This blog is about marriage; conversations about marriage, marriage confessions, commentary on married life and my own journey in creating an enriched marriage.
The blog is about domestics. What is domestic you ask?
do·mes·tic –(adjective) of or pertaining to the home, the household, household affairs, or the family: domestic pleasures.
To me domestic pleasures includes, family life, everything that makes a house a home, food, recipes, the art of keeping house (or housekeeping, if you will) and an excellent glass of wine.
If love, marriage and domestics speak to you, then pour a cup of tea and come sit by me; ConfessionsofaLovingWife.com is the place for you.
Consider this blog to be like the learners’ edition of Good Housekeeping (which is like my own personal bible) coupled with Redbook to make for a highly insightful, entertaining and enlightening marriage.
When I say this blog is like the learners edition of Good Housekeeping, I mean I’m no Martha, who has been making pastry for 45 years and has mastered it to a fine art, but I am Shannon who is learning to make pastry for the first time, has tried 4 different techniques and learned, edited and found the simplest and most foolproof recipe.

Shannon O
Hello my name is Shannon O, I would describe myself in a sentence as a twenty-something, working, busy, cuddle-bug, loving wife.
I’m a self proclaimed recipe maven and wine enthusiast.
I love cookbooks. They are like works of art to me; I could spend a Sunday afternoon with a cup of tea reading through an entire cookbook like it’s a novel, soaking in every detail. When I set out to make a dish I usually read 3 or 4 different recipes, pick them apart, and make my own.
If cookbooks are works of art to me, food is my personal canvas, there is something so relaxing to me about cooking, I love to put on my apron, turn up the radio, pour a glass of wine and create. The best part about cooking is creating meals for those I love. Watching people’s reaction when they eat a meal I’ve made is so rewarding, and I am fuelled by their feedback.
For more about cooking, recipes and food, check out Loving Food.
I am an active lover of wine, I love to try new wines and pair different wines with different meals, I love the way a glass of wine can perfectly enhance a dish, taking it from a dinner to a dining experience.
For more about wine, check out Loving Wine.
I’m a loving wife –hence the name. I was swept off my feet by my husband on our very first date January 14th 2006 and we’ve been together ever since, we renew our vows every year on our wedding anniversary (feel free to gag, it won’t hurt our feelings).
For more about our story, check out Our Love Story.
Marriage has been the single most life enriching thing I have ever taken part in. Being married to my husband has allowed me to grow and learn in ways I never could have imagined as a single woman. This is not to say that I believe that you must BE married to grow and learn, or that I feel that a piece of paper is requirement for a meaningful relationship, you have to do what works for you.
Marriage works for me, that piece of paper was critical to me I love being a Mrs. I love being someone’s wife, most of all I love being my husband’s wife. I believe that I did marry my other half, someone who brings out the best in me and balances out all my quirks and loves me despite my baggage (we all have our own suitcases some are just heavier than others- he has his own set of luggage).
For more about marriage, check out Loving Marriage.
Don’t get me wrong everyday isn’t wedded bliss. He still hangs his coat on the back of the dinning room chair, instead of putting it in the closet and I forget to clean the litter box when he’s away on a business trip. We have our struggles just like everyone, but I would say we’re very happily married, becoming Mrs. Shannon O was the best thing I ever did.
If I had to fill out a questionnaire of my hobbies it would look something like this:
I love cuddling with my husband, cooking, eating at fantastic restaurants, drinking fabulous wine, hosting dinner parties, writing, reading, learning, collecting quotes and sayings that inspire me, watching movies, drinking lattes over excellent conversation, doing yoga and indulging in bad reality TV.

It may sound strange, but I feel I’ve met a kindred spirit (I think you have to read Anne of Green Gables to fully get that phrase
). It is so nice to read about someone else who loves being married, loves being a wife, and loves making a house a home. Never be ashamed to admit that you love these things…we need more people like you in the world who can inspire us and set a lovely example:)

Oh Esther,
Not only have I read all of the Anne of Green Gables books, but I’ve seen the movie (Volumes 1, 2, 3), had the doll and was an avid watcher of Road to Avonlea… I know exactly what you mean by kindred spirit.
Thank you for your lovely comments they were so kind, I am so glad to have found a reader in YOU, someone who is on the same page and appreciates the topics I’ve chosen to highlight in this blog.
Thanks again, your comment meant a lot to me!

Thanks so much Dustin! I really appreciate your feedback.
I can’t agree with you more here: “Marriage has been the single most life enriching thing I have ever taken part in.” Yes, yes, yes! How refreshing and encouraging to hear from someone else who loves marriage in an age when marriage is seen as outdated and lame. I look forward to reading more from you!
Hi Shannon! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. I’m looking forward to reading your blog and learning more about you. What topic could be better than love, marriage, and good food!
